Coach Joe McCloskey tennis coaching and teaching experience
I taught German and French at Tucker and Godwin high schools in the 1980's and coached the tennis teams, In fact my son Alex played on several Godwin state championship tennis teams. In the summers, I managed Swim and racket clubs and also coached and taught tennis, swimming and diving at several local Swim and racket clubs in the Richmond/Henrico area: Tuckahoe West and Granite swim and racket clubs. I have played tennis most of my life, both USTA, Richmond racket league and several local tournaments.
More recently I am a member of Courtside tennis club where I assist with managing senior tennis programs. I also am an organizer of the Richmond tennis meetup group: https://www.meetup.com/richmondtennis. On Saturdays, I offer private tennis lessons at local high schools and recruit members for local indoor tennis clubs.
My webpage describes my tennis teaching methods:
www.totaltransitionaltennis.com
I use low compression "transition" tennis balls and wooden tennis rackets to enable my students to experience a better feel and control for the tennis ball.
I currently only teach tennis on Saturdays at Godwin and I take donations as payments because I am trying to promote tennis as a fun sport for all ages.
my goals:
1. promote redbeetball
2. promote quiet pickleball
3. promote and preserve multi-purpose sports courts
4. assist wembly in earning money to save their courts by promoting dual sport memberships: tennis and pickleball
